Thing 3
Blogging is all new to me so I am still considering the ways teachers can use them for their advantage and also their classroom's advantage. Some ways I thought of is communication with other teachers or staff in their community or even outside the community. Teachers can post blogs about activities they did in their classroom and it can allow other teachers to use the same activity and also comment if they like the idea or even if the activity worked in their classroom. Teachers can give feedback about the activities and comment alternatives as well. Also, teachers can blog back and forth about different ideas when it comes to behavior or situations in the classroom. With this teachers can communicate back and forth about different ideas and ways they use in the classroom to reduce the conflict(s). Teachers can share ideas and craft ideas as well. Posting their craft ideas teachers can share and even review others ideas and use them in their own classrooms. Blogging can be used in many different ways for teachers and these ideas are just some of the basics.
These are all good ideas. I also thought of having the students blog about things like writing about the book they were reading, writing about their spring break/summer vacations, etc. These were writing assignments that I had when I was younger, but I always wanted to read about what my classmates had done too and did not have that option. With a blog they would be able to read and comment on each other's assignments without disrupting everyone in the classroom. This would also be a tool to teach the kids about safe internet use/social networking.
ReplyDeleteI agree with your views on the importance of blogging within the teaching community. As future teachers, we need to establish a base of fellow educators that we can collabotate with. In this age of technology, electronic communication is the fastest way to get advice, research, and offer others constructive criticisim.
